Christine Coughlin has twice won the Graham Award for Legal Research and Writing Excellence in Teaching. She is the Director of the Legal Research and Writing Program at the Law School, and a co-director of the Wake Forest University Program in Bioethics, Health and Society. She also has an appointment at the Wake Forest University School of Medicine in the Translational Science Institute and is a frequent lecturer at the Medical School. Her teaching and scholarship are concentrated in the areas of legal writing, health care law and bioethics. Prior to joining Wake Forest in 2000, she was an attorney with Smith, Helms, Mullis & Moore in Greensboro, North Carolina where she represented hospitals, health care entities and providers in a wide range of health care issues. She also clerked for Judge Thomas Moore, Chief Bankruptcy Judge, United States District Court, Eastern District of North Carolina. She and her husband have four children, Jacob (10), Jonathan (8), Addison (5) and Isabelle (3).
