Courses for the 2009 London Program are:

History of the Common Law and English Constitutional Development, taught by Professor Robert Walsh focuses on selected topics in English legal history including the early court system, the social and economic foundations of the common law, and constitutional development in a nation without a written constitution. A paper is required. History of the Common Law (graded on a research paper, due early in the fall semester when you return. Class participation and a brief presentation on your paper topic will also be a component of your grade).

Comparative Civil Liberties taught by Professor Wilson Parker will compare judicial treatment of selected civil liberties topics under the United States Constitution, constitutions of various European countries, and the European Convention of Human Rights (as enforced by the European Court of Human Rights). Classes will be supplemented with field trips to various British legal institutions. Students will write a paper exploring a topic of their choice in depth. The paper will be due on the first day of the 2009-20010 school year.
